Some people say that the most important thing about being rich is that it gives the opportunity to help other people. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

While it is assumed that the most important aspect of being wealthy is to provide an opportunity to help others, I would say it is simplistic to association charity exclusively with money – there are many alternative ways we can provide support to people in need.
It is not difficult to understand why economic resources are recognized as the most essential prerequisite to help others. Advocates presume that money is the panacea to deal with all tricky conditions in the world. The most frequently used method that charities use is financial donation. Whether their primary focus be hunger, poverty or medical treatment, their view is that they can best address problems if they control the finances. They have the notion that their identified solutions can best be addressed through their investment.
The problem with the above reasoning, in my view, is that the advocates of financial charity oversimplify people’s conundrums to purely materialistic plights, while ignoring other non-economic factors; rather, there are many pervasive conditions in life that cannot be addressed by money, such as loneliness among elder people or the angst experienced by many adolescents. It isn’t necessary for anyone to wait until becoming millionaires to offer help. By contrast, a visit or a heart-to-heart talk may make great changes to those suffering mental pains. Even for those living in under the poverty line, we can offer help simply by volunteering ourselves for community services, such as an unpaid doctor’s visit or free help with the plumbing.
It is my conclusion therefore, there is no connection between charity and being rich, any members of the society can make valuable contributions to those in need.
