Some people think one of the best ways to solve environmental problems is to increase the cost of fuel used by cars and other vehicles. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

These days, environmental degradation has become alarming all over the world. How to protect our environment is a controversial issue. One suggestion has been to raise the price of fuel to discourage driving. I think this is certainly one option that might help, but other approaches are also needed.

Raising the price of fuel can be somewhat effective. If the government makes fuel costly to purchase for cars, then people will use their own vehicles less frequently. They may start to use public transportation to travel, which will lead to less pollution in the environment. In addition, expensive gasoline or petrol will decline its demand. Due to it, the exploitation of natural resources will also decrease such as coal, gas, and so on. However, there are two issues with this: it is not enough to fix the problem completely and higher fuel prices might negatively affect industry and the economy.

Environment-related problems could be addressed effectively by other methods. One option to consider is investing in the production of electric cars such as Tesla, which would be quieter and cleaner to use. Persuading manufacturers and travelers to adopt this new technology would be a more effective method for improving air quality. Another crucial measure worth mentioning is to develop green energies such as wind and solar. These are better alternatives because they don’t produce any pollution and there is an unlimited amount of them. The problem seems to be that it takes time and money to develop new technology, but surely it is worth it in the long run.

To conclude, while higher fuel prices might achieve less consumption, it is not a complete solution. Governments should look forward and help develop new breakthrough technologies and the eco-friendly resources.
