There has been no time in history where the lived lives of people have changed more dramatically. A quick reflection on a typical day reveals how technology has revolutionized the world. People in the past years may have never imagined that this day’s working mode would be different, so different that employees will be reached through wireless networks that utilize satellites orbiting the earth. Online meetings and business training prevail ever since those common occurrences, convenient for users to break down certain real-world barriers.
 
There are concerns out there attempting to bridge the dramatic changes to some negative effects. The assumption is that the increased reliance on a business meeting and training over the internet directly violates the essence of the “business” itself. Traditionally, a business type of gathering is formal, during which people officially sit together, wearing suits; this disciplined approach forces them to concentrate on the contents of the meetings or courses and make further discussions in person. When it turns into the online mode, however, the scene above never exists again: attenders are less self-motivated when there is no practical supervision from authorities; they procrastinate easily. They are also isolated from traditional social engagement; things then become dull when without further discussion and some extra activities. Some are still worrying that employees may never take those meetings or training seriously enough since the participation lacks the sense of ritual—one may treat them casually if there is no need to be that formal.
 
However, advocators see things differently; they focus on what this mode would bring to them and think that compared with the potentials and possibilities, limitations listed in the paragraph above are not worth a mention. The core of business meetings and training, from the perspective of this kind of person, is to share new information and commercial conceptions that are not easily gained from one’s daily job contents. What the online business approaches can do is to deliver this information and provide communications directly between the high-level and the employees, or between companies, without worrying about difficulties like, say, the distance, the size of the room, or some other personal inconveniences. By contrast, would it be that important for the attendees to dress up well, to behave, or to make some further discussion in person? Even if the answer is positive, the online meeting system has been developing so well that the video functions and the real-time interactions can fulfill those requirements,or be even better if video displays see things more clearly.
 
Technological improvement always marks the human experiences, and every time the revolution comes, there will be no limit to the number of problems, both new and old, for us to tackle. There is certainly no need to retreat to a Luddite attitude to new things, but rather optimistically see the possibilities the technology brings to us.
