我们先来看产生的原因，主要有两方面。
一是从由于整个社会的发展，生产力的提升和科技的发展使得一些在以前稀有且比较贵的商品，但现在人们能用更低廉的价格买到。同时，人们的购买力相较以往也更强，更多的人可以负担得起买各类商品的费用。因此，当一些东西损坏后，以前换新成本高不一定负担得起所以会维修再使用，但现在可以直接购买新的来替换。
二是许多产品不断更新换代，新一代的商品保留前一代的功能基础上，还会提供更多更好的功能，也给人们提供了更好的选择，比如手机或电脑。而当人们购买了新一代的产品后，旧的同类产品也就没有使用和保留的必要。因此只能丢弃。
理清楚原因后，我们再来看影响。抛弃型社会（throw-away society）带来的影响主要有三方面
好的方面是，用买新的商品替代旧的而不是采用修补再利用，对于社会来说能够拉动消费，促进经济增长。
坏的方面有两个。一是，很多旧东西在被丢弃时，功能上并未过时或者损坏，因此实际上会造成很大的资源浪费。而人们如果习惯于东西坏了就丢然后买新的替换，可能会导致非理性消费或者消费主义的盛行。
二是，很多被丢掉的东西很难进行处理，比如电子产品和原本可循环利用的塑料袋。如果这些垃圾过多会使得人们缺少足够的土地用来填埋生活垃圾，并且处理不当也会对自然环境带来污染。

It is common to notice that people would discard their previously owned things to buy the new ones instead, especially in developed areas. The technological advances and the promotion from the sellers may be the major reasons that contribute to this phenomenon.
To begin with, the advancement in technology enables the mass production and the cheaper price of buying things. Recent years witness the huge progress in the improvement of production efficiency, which produces a variety of commodities in relatively cheaper prices than they were in decades ago. So, it would be more likely for people to throw old things away instead of repairing them. On the top of that, the promotion on the media could be another reason for this trend. Various advertisements on the Internet or TV keep persuading us to buy the latest products. They lure us to update our belongings by presenting their new functions and the gorgeous appearances. Hence, the consumers may catch the trend and discard the old ones.
This phenomenon could bring about the consequences from different aspects of our society. As for the environment, the rampant production could speed up the exhaustion of the natural resources; the waste we throw away may aggravate the pollution of our surroundings as well if we cannot recycle them appropriately. Besides, this way of living also encourages the consumerism and irrational consumption, which may lead to the prevalence of money-oriented mentality. People may try to buy anything they want regardless of their financial status and overlook what are the really valuable things in their lives.
In conclusion, the reason contributing to the “throw-away” society varies, and it has many potential drawbacks.
